About Me

When you look around my classroom, you will notice a few things about me.  I like lizards.  I have a bit of a book collecting problem (what you can't see about this is that I donate a lot of books to charity as well).  I require learning to be both challenging and fun at the same time. 

Some other things you may want to know about me are that I have been teaching for 4 years now. 11-12 will be my 5th year. I just completed my Masters in Education and graduated in December 2010 from Maryville University.  I sponsor the North Middle Running Club where we follow a program called, From the Couch to the 5k, designed to make running accessible to people of any fitness level.  I am also writing a book for middle school students and will be asking my students for feedback as we learn and practice various aspects of writing like character, conflict and revising through out the year.

I live in the Hazelwood District with my husband and 3 boys. My boys are Matthew (7) a second grader at McNair, Conner (13) is an 8th grader at Northwest Middle and Corey Jr. (CJ) is 18 and starting his first year at Mizzou, studying Journalism and training with the ROTC. I am from Southern Illinois, but have lived in North County since 1997 after spending 2 years in the Air Force.

I love to read, write, hike and learn. There is more, but it changes so often...

This is the hardest question for me to answer...usually it is the one I am currently readingbut not always. I love to read classic literature to challenge myself.
